The interconnect with Tallahassee has been opened while repairs are made at the water plant. Due to the loss of pressure a precautionary boil water notice has been issued and door tags have been distributed. Clearance Samples will be pulled and the rescission notices will also be door tags and posted here, upon receipt of clean results from the laboratory.

Collier Utility Company

Dear Valued Resident:

As you may be aware, local news channels have been publishing reports
about your water system and the quality of the drinking water over the past two
weeks.

Collier Utility Company, Inc. (“Utility”) and the Operator would like to
provide you with an update on the current condition of the system, so you know
the quality of the drinking water delivered to your homes.

U.S. Water Services Corporation, the operator of the water system, has
been working diligently with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection
(FDEP) and the Department of Health (FDOH) to provide all documentation and
sampling results, that show the system is in compliance with the applicable
Rules and Regulations of the State of Florida.

  1. Additionally
to the monthly bacteriological samples required by the State, the operator
performed additional sampling on 9/17/2023 and 9/21/2023 at the water plant and
different sampling locations in the distribution system. All results showed the
system is free from contamination, Total Coliforms and E.Coli.
  2. All
bacteriological results have been submitted to the FDEP.
  3. The
news reported discolored water in the system. Pictures submitted to the FDEP
dated 9/20/23 showed no color in the water.
  4. Regarding
the plant infrastructure, the Utility is working with the operator on
improvement projects for the water plant. A new hydropneumatic Tank and
appurtenances are on order at this time and the project is anticipated to be
completed within the next few months.
  5. The
news also reported high lead and copper levels in the drinking water. Based on
the latest results obtained from the samples performed inside few homes in the
community, the levels of lead and copper are within the 90th percentile
required by law. By Rule, Lead and Copper samples must be collected inside the
houses and the participants follow a protocol provided to collect the samples.
  6. The
most recent Boil Water Notice was due to an issue with the piping on the high
service pumps and repairs were complete immediately after the problem was
    discovered.

We understand some residents expressed concerns about the water system,
but the operator has taken all measurements and has complied with the state
regulations, showing the system is in compliance with the Safe Drinking Water Standards.

Currently, we are working with the Florida Rural Water Association on other
processes to implement additional treatment as needed, to ensure we follow
standard operating procedures to protect public health and safety.

Our customers safety and quality of service is our top priority.  Thank you.

Hurricane Idalia Rescission

Bacteriological samples for all systems affected by loss of water pressure have been confirmed satisfactory and it is no longer necessary to boil water. We appreciate your patience as we strive to provide you with safe drinking water.

Hurricane Idalia Update

Good afternoon, all systems have been evaluated and no damages have been found, some systems did lose water pressure or have low water pressure due to commercial power outages. Bacteriological samples have been pulled and delivered to the laboratory and we hope to have results tomorrow. Those systems that were sampled are: Brewster, Meadow Hills, North Lake Meadows, and Sedgefield. A call will go out to rescind the precautionary boil water notices and it will be posted here. We appreciate your patience during and after the storm as our utmost concern is the safety of our residents and our staff!

Preparing for Tropical Storm/Hurricane Idalia

Based on the current projected track and forecast for
Idalia, our staff are diligently preparing for possible impacts to our service
areas and will be ready to respond.  As
the storm is expected to intensify over the warm gulf waters and become a
possible Category 3 Hurricane, we encourage our customers to prepare!  Bottled water for consumption is highly
recommended, filling tubs and other containers for other water needs is also
recommended.

If you experience a water outage please know it is due to a power
outage or damage.  We have made
arrangements to have generators on standby to any of our affected plants and
will have crews dispatched as soon as it is safe to put them on the road.  If you lose water pressure your system will be
under a Precautionary Boil Water Notice.
These will be posted on this site and updated as needed.  We appreciate your patience as we work to restore
water service to your area!  Again, our
crews will be dispatched once it is safe to be on the roads.  Our customers safety as well as that of our
employees and their families are our top priority!

Royal Utility Company Important Notice

Beginning on July 14th and
running through July 28th, the City of Coral Springs Utilities & Engineering
Division, Royal Waterworks, Coral Springs Improvement District, and the North
Springs Improvement District will temporarily be changing its method of
chlorinating its water to comply with recommendations from the Department of
Environmental Protection.  As a result,
within this two-week period, you may notice a chlorine taste or odor in the tap
water.  Water main flushing will also take place
during this period between the
hours of 7 a.m. and 4 p.m.  A temporary
discoloration of the water and a reduction in pressure as a result of Fire
Hydrant flushing may also occur.

These
temporary conditions should not be harmful to your health. However, customers are cautioned to determine if the water is clear before
washing clothes (or any other processing) as staining may occur. Customers
are also advised to set aside water for drinking and cooking purposes, and
after flushing in your area to check the water clarity before use. If you experience discolored water, run the cold water in all your faucets
for approximately 5-10 minutes.
If conditions persist, please contact your water provider at the number listed
below. Additionally, if you are on kidney dialysis, please consult your
physician for any special instructions concerning this matter. If you have
tropical fish or aquatic animals, please contact your local pet store for
advice. Customers with inline filters may want to contact the equipment
manufacturer for any precautions that may be required.

If you are especially
sensitive to the taste and odor of chlorine, try keeping an open container of
drinking water in your refrigerator. This will enable the chlorine to
dissipate, thus reducing the chlorine taste. Remember, drinking water has a
shelf life. Change out the water in your refrigerated container weekly.

The
flushing program serves two important functions. First, it minimizes the
build-up of mineral and other sediments, that over time can affect water
quality and water flows through the pipes. Secondly, it allows the Water
Department to verify the fire hydrants are working properly and available for
fire protection.

We
regret any inconvenience you may experience during this time, but this is
necessary to maintain our high quality water standards throughout our system.
